About PawClaim

Built to fix a system that was never designed to work for pet owners.

Pet insurance is one of the fastest-growing financial products in the US — and one of the least understood. PawClaim gives pet owners the tools, knowledge, and support to navigate it on equal footing.

The problem we set out to solve

Pet insurance is one of the most misunderstood financial products most people will ever buy. Policies are written in language designed to be difficult to parse. Denials are issued with citations to policy sections that owners have never read. Appeals processes are deliberately obscure.

The result is predictable: pet owners pay premiums for years, file a claim when they need it most, and receive a denial letter they do not know how to challenge. Most never appeal. Most never know they could.

In the US, approximately 1 in 3 pet insurance claims is initially denied. The majority of those denials are never appealed — not because they are wrong, but because the process is designed to be discouraging. A well-constructed appeal overturns denials in a significant number of cases.

Why we built this

PawClaim was founded in 2026 by a team with backgrounds in technology and business operations. The founders had watched friends, family members, and colleagues navigate the pet insurance system — sometimes successfully, more often not — and recognized a consistent pattern: the outcomes had almost nothing to do with whether a claim was legitimate, and almost everything to do with whether the owner knew how to fight for it.

The tools to fight back existed: policy language analysis, state insurance regulations, denial pattern research, DOI complaint processes. They were just scattered, inaccessible, and time-consuming to assemble. We built PawClaim to bring them together in one place, available to any pet owner in minutes.

What makes us different

Most pet insurance tools are built by people who make money when you buy a policy. Comparison sites, recommendation engines, and broker tools all earn commissions from insurers — which creates a structural conflict when the honest answer is "do not buy right now" or "stay with your current insurer."

PawClaim earns money one way: directly from pet owners who need help. The Appeal Package ($39) and Guardian membership ($99/year) are paid by pet owners, for pet owners. We receive no commissions, referral fees, or payments from any insurance company. If our pre-enrollment scan recommends staying with your current insurer or buying no insurance at all, we say that — and earn nothing from it. That is the only model that keeps our analysis honest.

Our principles

Independence first
No partnerships with insurers. No referral arrangements that influence recommendations. Our analysis is the same whether or not we earn a commission.
🔎
Verified data only
Every insurer claim in our database is sourced from published policy documents, regulatory filings, or direct verification. We do not publish what we cannot substantiate.
💬
Plain language always
Insurance is complicated by design. We translate every policy, denial, and regulation into language that does not require a law degree to understand.
👤
One side of the table
We work for pet owners. Not insurers, not clinics, not investors who want to sell policies. If our tools help you save money or win a claim, we have done our job.

Where we are going

The next phase of PawClaim is data. Every denial that passes through our system, every pre-existing condition exclusion, every insurer pattern — we are building a transparency layer that has never existed in this industry. When we have enough data to publish it responsibly, pet owners will be able to see — for the first time — which insurers deny the most, for what reasons, and in which states.

Insurers that commission comparison sites cannot publish that data. We can. That is our moat.
